My Story
Like many professionals, my career started where I thought I was supposed to be. For years, I was immersed in academia, earning a Joint Honours BA in English and History, followed by a Master’s and a PhD in Medieval Historical Literature.
That rigorous academic training taught me deep critical analysis, thorough research, and a sharp attention to detail. But along the way, I discovered a quiet truth about myself: while I respected the drafting process, my real passion woke up during revision. The moments I felt most energized weren't when I was writing my own papers, but when I was poring over my colleagues' manuscripts, helping bring clarity, power, and flow to their arguments.
By the time I collected my PhD, I knew my path lay outside academia. Yet the editorial work never stopped. My former colleagues continued sending me their papers, relying on my precision and passing my details on to researchers across different universities.
Since then, I have channelled that exactness into professional editing, supplementing my doctoral background with formal training in proofreading and copy editing, alongside hands-on commercial and medical editing contracts.
Today, I bring those honed analytical skills to my true passion: the immersive magic of fiction.
